Development Officer Scalpay School Project

Harris Development Limited (HDL) is a ‘not for profit’ community interest group incorporated in 1994. The organisation is run by a board which is elected annually from, and by the residents of Harris. It has a successful track record of taking forward large projects that have added significantly to the community. The mission statement of HDL is ‘to foster, plan, encourage and assist all types of development, within the geographical area of the Isle of Harris. With a view to promoting an economic, natural and social environment that will result in a more balanced and stable level of population.’ Harris Development Limited are now seeking to appoint a Development Officer to work on their Scalpay School Project which could be transformational for the communities of Scalpay and Harris. As part of the role the successful candidate will be responsible for: •Support HDL’s Scalpay School Project through the initial development Stages. •Aim to secure capital funding for the project through interaction with key stakeholders, work closely with key partners of the project. •Provide support on community consultation and establish a good connection with the community regarding the work of HDL. •Work effectively as pert of HDL team and engage with the Board of Directors. The successful candidate will possess the following skills: •Have experience of Project Management or a willingness to learn on the job. •Have an understanding and awareness of funding bodies and the funding application process. •Be a team player with experience or knowledge of the Harris community. •Have strong communication skills and be confident in speaking at public meetings. The post will be awarded on an eighteen-month contract. The salary for the post will be between £26,000 and £30,000, depending on skills and experience. The post is full-time, but HDL would consider applications from part-time, and job share applicants. The post is based in Harris and there would be a requirement for the candidate to reside in the local area.
